Meet our Cast!
Queen Katie—Founder, Owner and Head Dreamer
Katie is thrilled to bring her dreams to reality through the birth of her business and special events. Katie has an interdisciplinary degree in child development and early childhood education, with a paraprofessional certificate in the Montessori Method. She has previously taught local Montessori pre-K. Her music and performance attributes and experiences include: Ten years of community theatre, Recipient of the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center's "Starr of Excellence Award" for musical achievement, nominee for the Mayor's Arts Award, numerous state and local vocal / performance awards, and four local titles with the Miss America Pageant Association including "Best Talent". Katie has also performed professionally as the role of Snow White with the Clock Tower Dinner Theatre. Experience and education aside, Katie truly believes that every girl is a princess because they are the Daughter of the King - all it takes is a loving heart to bring out your royalty! When not wearing her glass slippers, Katie is blessed to assume her favorite roles: a wife to her beloved husband and mother to her five children. AMDG
Princess Theresa—Operational Manager; Performs as Mermaid Princess, Belle, Cinderella, Snow Princess, and Rapunzel
Theresa is a student attending Brigham Young University, studying Early childhood and special education. Performing has been a part of her life since she did her first play at the age of 7! She has spent many summers on the Starlight stage, as well as other local theaters. She attended Auburn, where she was heavily involved in their Creative and Performing Arts program. After graduating in 2014, she served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 18 months in Mexico City, and shortly after returning home in 2016 began working for Once Upon a Dream Performances. She loves being able to spend time with children and being able to put a smile on their faces!
Princess Sydney—Fairy Godmother of Sales; Performs as Belle, Snow White, Cinderella, Mermaid Princess, and Mascot
Sydney Rae graduated with her Associates of Arts from Rock Valley College in the winter of 2015, and did a five month internship in Walt Disney World as a character attendant. She currently works as a dance instructor at Steps to Grace Dance Academy, teaching for Christian Youth Theater in various counties, and performed in the entertainment department at Six Flags Great America. She earned her Yoga Teaching Certificate last Summer and has recently taken on two new amazing opportunities: She is now the Outreach Coordinator for Rockford Dance Company, as well as stepping into the title of “Fairy Godmother” aka Director Of Sales, with Once Upon A Dream Performances! Sydney Rae has been involved in musical theater and the arts, with various groups and projects, for over ten years and has been blessed to be able to use her God-given passions and gifts to teach children of all ages for over seven years. Sydney Rae is so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to spend time with some of her favorite characters and to bring life, fun, and imagination to the little princesses she’ll meet in the parties to come.
Princess Marissa—Marketing Manager; Performs as Wonder Woman and Lady in Waiting
Marissa is a graphic designer with a passion for photography and performing, She received her Associate of Applied Sciences in Cross Media Production from Rock Valley College. She was in several plays in high school, including playing the lead character Mercy in an original play called Justice or Mercy? She also just recently entered the Starlight scene and performed as Louisa Eshton in Jane Eyre. In her spare time she enjoys wandering in nature, drinking tea and baking. As a child, all she wanted was to be a superhero so it's a dream come true to portray Woman of Wonder. She loves kids and is so happy to have the privilege of empowering young girls to be who they were born to be.
Princess Chloe—Performs as Polynesian Princess and Arabian Princess
Chloe currently is a student at Illinois State University. She describes her deepest passion as singing! She takes pride in belting crazy high operatic notes, but also loves singing some sweet tunes on her ukulele. Chloe has done plenty of shows around the Rockford community. This past year she played Babette in “Beauty and the Beast” for Starlight Theatre. In addition, she was a dancer for Evolve Dance Co. for 13 years. Aside from singing, kids are one of her favorite things in life. She’s says that their innocence, creativity, and bright personalities always capture her heart. (As well as their adorable faces!) In her free time she loves cuddling with her cat and watching cartoons.
She’s excited to be apart of a business that incorporates all the things she loves most, and is honored to have the opportunity to spread happiness through her talents.
Princess Ashley—Performs as Snow White and Belle
Ashley McHugh has always enjoyed performing for the enjoyment of others, especially children! When not singing with the birds as Snow White, she works with students as the Music Theatre Director and Choreographer, Middle and High School Choirs Director, and General Music and Voice Lessons teacher at Mineral Point Unified Schools. Ashley also serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Music Theory through UW-Oshkosh CAPP, a Registered Adjudicator for WSMA, a faculty member at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and a private instructor at her home studio. Ashley has earned a MM in Classical Voice and an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from New York University Steinhardt, and a MA in Vocal Performance & Literature and a BM in K-12 Vocal Music Education from Eastern Illinois University. Ashley was an Adjunct Instructor of voice lessons at NYU Steinhardt and a regular vocalist in churches throughout the New York City metropolitan area. Ashley performed at Carnegie Hall and DiMenna Center of Classical Music with New York Lyric Opera Theatre, Provincetown Playhouse and Frederick Loewe Theatre with NYU Steinhardt Opera, and Washington Square Park with the Washington Square Park Singers. She also performed in the Music in the Marché program in Mondavio, Italy, and the Midwest Institute of Opera program in Bloomington, IL. Most recently, Ashley has been singing in Baroque on Beaver Festival, Blue Lake Radio Recital Series, and Beauty and the Beast with Pop Factory Players.
Princess Elena—Performs as Snow Queen, Rapunzel, and Snow Princess
Elena is a dedicated performer to all things entertainment. She has been performing since she was three and has extensive training in singing, dancing and acting and was accepted with a high scholarship to the American Music Dramatic Academy in Manhattan New York. She has experience in volunteering, such as hospital visits, and working with kids and has her Child Care Teaching Certificate. Elena considers it an honor and a blessing to be apart of Once Upon A Dream Performances. It has always been a dream of hers to perform for children as their hero’s, giving them confidence and support from those they look up to as well as making little princes and princesses dreams come true.
Princess Kemi—Performs as Frog Princess
Kemi is a Rockford Native and proud graduate of the Creative And Performing Arts Program at Auburn High School. Her formal education includes a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Minor in Music and a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Ashford University. Outside of academics Kemi has a heart for music, dance, children and ministry. Kemi has been seen in All City Musical Productions such as The King and I, Oliver, Starmites and Babes in Toyland. She was also in Starlight Theater's production of Spamalot in 2014. Kemi’s experience in modeling comes from Royal Model Management through Barbizon School of Modeling and Acting. Though she loves to sing and pose for the camera, Kemi’s most utilized art is Dance. Kemi brings many years of dance experience, from ballet dancing with the Gateway Contemporary Ballet Company to choreographing hip hop dances with friends. Kemi currently teaches Praise Dance at Bethel AME in Clinton, Iowa and is the Club Advisor and choreographer for Clinton Community College Dance Club. Kemi is more than honored to have the opportunity to be apart of Once Upon a Dream. It is truly like a dream come true. In Princess Tiana’s words Kemi feels like She’s ALMOST THERE!
Princess Mary—Performs as Snow Queen and Mermaid Princess
Mary Seigel is a Theatre major at Carthage college where she focuses on performance and costume design. She has been given the opportunity to perform at both regional and international festivals. Through Once Upon a Dream Performances, Mary has been able to explore her passions as a princess, performing for children across the city, and making costumes for characters as the characters needs appear. It is an honor to work with such a positive and professional company, and spend time spreading magic to the community.
Princess Myriah—Performs as Snow Princess, Rapunzel, and Belle
Myriah graduated from Rock Valley college with her Associate of Arts in the spring of 2018. She attended Christian Life High School, where she was involved in musical theater and choir. Myriah has performed with Christian Youth Theater, Gateway Community Theater, Starlight Theater, and other theaters in/around the Rockford area. She plans to study early childhood education. Myriah has always loved children and was very excited to join the magic of Once Upon A Dream the summer of 2018!
Superhero Kenaniah—Performs as Bat-Hero, and Superhero Sidekick,
Kenaniah is a Rockford native and a recent Augustana College graduate holding a BFA in Business MIS with a minor in Computer Science and - most importantly - is super excited to return to the acting community! After taking time off the stage to play football for Augie, Kenaniah has been involved in Starlight Theater productions and joined the wonderful Once Upon A Dream Performance team. As a career, he works in real estate as a Tech Coordinator for Team Sold On Toni and Keller Williams Realty Signature, an independent KW office in Loves Park, IL. He’s extremely blessed with this awesome opportunity and he’s so excited to make your event one to remember!
Princess Kat—Performs as Tinker Fairy and Fairy Face-Painter
Kat is currently studying theater and voice at Rockford University. Her most recenty theater credits include: Starlight Theatre's production of Beauty and the Beast, as the Enchantress and various ensemble roles, and Captain Robert Falcon Scott in Peter and the Starcatcher, Gangster 1 in Bryon Civic Theater's The Drowsy Chaperone. This summer she can be seen onstage at Starlight Theatre as Renee/ensemble for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and in the ensemble of Cinderella After the Ball. She is thankful to her family and teachers for their support and training.
Princess Leah—Performs as Mermaid Princess
Leah is a current student of Rock Valley College and will eventually be transferring to UW Platteville. She is studying Early Childhood Education in hopes to become a preschool teacher. Both theater and working with children are her passion. She’s been involved with musical theater since the age of 10 and danced since she was a toddler. She mainly performed with Christian Youth Theater or CYT (formerly known as Spotlight Youth Theater) and also with the Studio Rockford. She’s had the privilege of teaching and also being on the directing team for CYT. Working along kids and helping them perform fantastic showcases or performances is something she lives for. Bringing joy to kids has always been something Leah loves to do and what better way than by portraying the characters they know and love.
Princess Taylor—Performs as Cinderella, Mermaid Princess, Snow Queen, Belle, Snow Princess, and Rapunzel
Taylor attended school at the American Musical and Dramatic of New York where she worked as a singing waitress at Ellen's Stardust Diner in Time’s Square. She also has three years as a stunt performer under her belt. Taylor is thrilled to join this amazing crew of performers.
Princess Andrea—Performs as Special Event Princess and Lady in Waiting
Andrea is a senior at Hillsdale College pursuing a major in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Marketing Management. At Hillsdale, Andrea is Student Director of Liberty Princess Company, a charity organization similar to Once Upon a Dream Performances. She is grateful for the opportunity to perform and develop her business administration skills through “princess-ing,” both at college and home. Andrea found her love for acting at a young age, performing in several Children’s Theater Project and East High School productions. Her favorite part of “princessing” is providing young girls with positive role models—she believes that each princess has an important and inspirational story.
Princess Kristen—Performs as Cinderella, Snow White, and Mermaid Princess
Kristen Abramowicz has been involved with the arts since she was little. She started dance at age three and has been in theater since she was 14; but nothing has been more a part of her soul than her love for singing. It is that passion that inspired her to be involved in every chorus available to her throughout her school career including show choir, IMEA, and Allstate. She continued to follow that passion through many musicals including Rogers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” where she was cast as the Fairy Godmother and Gateways production of “Into the Woods” where she was cast as Cinderella. It also led her to be an active member in her church’s choir and a cantor at masses in Rockford. Kristen has a love for life that she finds through family, friends, and the many people she interacts with in her day. She currently works as an administrative assistant at a money management firm. Though she loves what she does, one of Kristen’s dreams has always been to be a voiceover for a Disney Princess in a movie. Truly, being a part of Once Upon A Dream Performances has been a dream come true for her.
Princess Sarah—Performs as Mermaid Princess, Snow Princess, Cinderella, and a Fairy Facepainter
Sarah Garner grew up in the performing arts, both in plays and singing and harmonizing with her family, having most recently been in Much Ado About Nothing with RVC Studio Theater and a guitar accompaniment for Taming of the Shrew with the RVC Shakespeare Shakes. Since first becoming a princess for Once Upon A Dream Productions in 2014, she's begun a folk music pursuit under the moniker Treeswannafly and completed a year and a half mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this last June. Now that she's back, she plans on putting all that drive and determination into studying Visual Arts at RVC next semester and continuing to add some magic sparkle wherever it's needed. She also face-paints a first rate unicorn.
Superhero John—Performs as Bat-Hero
John is a Rockford native, having graduated from Boylan and Rock Valley College. Saving and serving the community isn't just something he does in costume! After working for three years as a life guard at Walt Disney World, he began his several year preparation and was made a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. As a real live knight, John can be seen volunteering for charitable organizations in the community, and working to help them raise funds in order to keep them serving the needs of the public. In his free time, John enjoys being a movie buff and challenging others to riveting rounds of trivia!
Miss Rachel—Fairy Face-Painter and Lady in Waiting
Rachel is the third of four children. She caught the theater bug in 6th grade. She has performed in The Wizard of Oz; The Sound of Music; You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown; Peter Pan, and more. She is currently homeschooled. In addition to theater, Rachel takes every opportunity to bless others through providing child care. In her free time she enjoys learning about cosmetology, art based crafts, baking, and photography. Her favorite princesses are Snow White, Belle, the Snow Princess, and Rapunzel.
Miss Margaret—Lady in Waiting and Fairy Face Painter
Margaret is currently finishing her associates degree at Rock Valley College and will transfer to ISU in the fall to study social work. Theater, the arts, and performing has been a major part of her life since she was 3. She enjoys spending time with her siblings, painting, teaching dance, and spending time with cousins and friends. She has been working with younger kids as a youth group leader, camp counselor, dance instructor, and nanny. She has been part of OUAD since 2015 and has loved every minute of it! Getting to spend time with children and make their wishes into reality is a dream come true!
Miss Isabel—Fairy Face-Painter
Isabel is currently finishing her senior year at Boylan High School and will be attending The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the fall. Art has always been her passion since she was little. She enjoys painting, going to museums, and spending time with friends and family. She has been working with younger kids as a youth group leader for the past 6 months at Holy Family Church, as well as painting a mural for the group. She has worked as a camp counselor over the summers and helps with Greenwich Village Art Fair every year. Her art has also been included in the Rock Valley Art Show and the Rockford Art Museum Young Artists Show for the past two years--which has been an amazing experience for her! She enjoys face painting for the kids to put a smile on their face for the day. Face painting reminds her of being a kid and reminds her of how much she used to love getting her face painted. She is thrilled to be joining Once Upon A Dream and working to make every child’s dream come true!
